Meghan Markle baby news: Thomas Markle ANNOUNCEMENT over travel plans to meet grandchild
The 74-year-old will not see his daughter as she gives birth over the coming days, despite Meghan’s mother Doria flying over at the weekend. Sources close to Thomas have reportedly said he is still “squarely persona non grata” in the royal fold. He has also been “unable to make inroads reconciling with Meghan because he believes she is in a ‘cone of silence’.”
Meghan has not spoken to her father since her wedding last May.
This is because he has talked about the royal couple to the media several times over the last year.
But Thomas apparently “hopes their relationship can be repaired after she has a baby”.
Thomas was also supposed to walk Meghan down the aisle when she tied the knot with Prince Harry.
But he was unable to attend the spectacular ceremony at St George’s Chapel, in the grounds of Windsor Castle.
This was because he was involved in a scandal involving fake paparazzi pictures and then needed heart surgery.
Doria was one of the few family members from Meghan’s side who was invited.
She has also joined Meghan and Prince Harry at some if their royal appearances, so will no doubt be at the birth too.
A source said to The Sun: “Like all mums, Doria wants to be there for her daughter at this seismic event in her life.
“She has sometimes worried about being so far away but she is absolutely going to be there for her at the birth.”
Royal fans won’t find out exactly when the baby will arrive, as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced earlier this month they plan to keep the birth private.
A statement from Kensington Palace said: “The Duke and Duchess look forward to sharing the exciting news with everyone once they have had an opportunity to celebrate privately as a new family.”
