Meghan Markle baby latest: Could Baby Sussex END Prince Harry and Prince William FEUD?
A royal expert has claimed the two brothers are once again getting along after a long-running feud between the pair – all of which started when Prince William sat his little brother down to discuss his blossoming relationship with Meghan Markle. It was reported by a number of royal sources that the frostiness between the two brothers began after Prince William questioned whether Harry was rushing into marrying actress Meghan, less than two years after they met. But with the birth of a new baby, sources working close to the Royal Family have said that Baby Sussex could mean a lasting end to the Windsor boys feud.
Speaking on Good Morning Britain, royal correspondent for The Sun, Emily Andrews said: “The two brothers have definitely fallen out, I think the two wives have reflected how the brothers are feeling.
“It is quite a complicated set of reasons.
“I think frankly, whoever Harry would have married, it would have upset that tight trio of William, Harry and Kate.
“Kate was dating William for a very long time. Harry was close to her, the three of them did lots of things together.
“Whoever, I think, came on to the scene, potentially might have upset that scenario.”
Prince William had dated Kate for eight years before he proposed which likely prompted the brotherly concern for Harry’s whirlwind romance.
The young lovebirds fell for one another at a rapid pace, with Prince Harry persuading Meghan to camp out with him under the stars in Botswana just three to four weeks after they met for the first time.
The pair were introduced by a mutual friend in July 2016 and were married in May 2018, making it unsurprising as to why more the more considered second in line for the throne Wiliam might have cautioned his brother.
But despite this, Harry had decided he was destined to be with Meghan and his brother’s words of caution simply caused the rift between the two.
Tensions were also fuelled when there was a row over a emerald-encrusted bridal tiara that Meghan had wanted to wear and an incident involving Kate over an outfit that Princess was to wear as a bridesmaid.
It was at the height of the tiara drama that Prince Harry reportedly declared: “What Meghan wants, Meghan gets.”
But this turned out to be untrue, as the Queen herself had ruled that the chosen tiara was inappropriate, and instead a diamond lozenge bandeau tiara made for Queen may in 1932 was selected.
But the animosity between Meghan and Kate has been widely documented.
The American and classic British Duchess’ have long been compared and contrasted – inevitably setting them up against each other, meaning it is not unsurprisingly that the relationship between the two brothers has been affected.
The frustrations between the two were so fraught that the brothers, whose lives had always been entwined, ended their joint office in Kensington Palace and instead, Harry set up his own separately at Buckingham Palace.
While, this might make sense as the two brothers have different future paths, with Prince William as a future king and Prince Harry currently sixth in the line of succession.
But all of the upset is potentially in the past now that the brothers have a new shared passion: fatherhood.
Having lost their mother Diana in 1997, when William was aged 15 and Harry aged 12, the brothers understand the importance of family.
In fact, the tensions between the two young families started to thaw during Meghan’s pregnancy.
On Easter Sunday, William and Kate were seen dropping into Harry and Meghan’s new home Frogmore Cottage with a housewarming gift.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge stayed for an hour, had tea and looked around the property at the full extent of its renovation.
Now, royal fans across the world hope that the royal couple’s first child will continue to thaw the frosty relationship as the young families bond over their shared experiences of young royal family life.
A statement from Buckingham Palace on Monday read: “Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Sussex was safely delivered of a son at 0526hrs this morning.
“The baby weighs 7lbs 3oz. The Duke of Sussex was present for the birth.
“The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales, The Duchess of Cornwall, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Lady Jane Fellowes, Lady Sarah McCorquodale and Earl Spencer have been informed and are delighted with the news.
“The Duchess’s mother, Doria Ragland, who is overjoyed by the arrival of her first grandchild, is with Their Royal Highnesses at Frogmore Cottage. Her Royal Highness and the baby are both doing well.”
