Chris Ship told Sunrise that the Royal Family has changed under the leadership of Queen Elizabeth II, from 1952 when she became monarch to the present day. ITV’s Royal Editor added that he expected the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s interview with Oprah to trigger changes within the monarchy.
Mr Ship said: “The royals do not do anything in a dramatic hurry.
“They always like to project the image of stability, that it is never changing and the monarchy is at the top of British society.
“But we do not have the same monarchy now in 2021 as we had back in the 1950s when the Queen took over.
“So it does move and I suspect that Harry and Meghan’s interview was so huge that this might be the trigger for some of the subtle changes.”

“She has instructed all of her staff not to get into a slanging match with them too, I am sure they will do what they are told.
“She wants to reconcile everything behind closed doors and get it sorted out.
“Whether she can do that or not really is up to Harry and Meghan and whether they will be satisfied with that or do they want another pound of flesh.
“Do they want to drag them through the public airwaves and public prints?

“If they do want to go down that road it is their choice, then they will have to be a lot more specific than they have been with Oprah Winfrey about what actually happened.”
