Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s heartbreaking link to Princess Diana after leaving royals

Patrick Jephson, stressed that things won’t get easier for Meghan Markle and Prince Harry after they announced they were stepping down as senior royals. Mr Jephson claimed money and luxuries will always get in the way of Meghan and Harry living the kind of lifestyle they desire, just as it did for Princess Diana.

He told Vanity Fair: ”Deprived of full royal status, she inevitably fell back on the practical benefits – planes, limousine and bodyguards – that only wealth could provide.

“By throwing off the restrictions of royalty, she just swapped one set of shackles for another.”

The former royal secretary hinted at some of the struggles that Meghan and Harry could face after they jointly announced their decision to step back as senior members of the Royal Family in January.

Jepson suggested the Duchess cannot possibly live a lifestyle to match her “humanitarian message” associated with her brand.

According to the former private secretary, Prince Harry and Meghan are still in need of some of the luxury that comes along with being a royal.

“They need the stuff only wealth can provide, but chafe at the obligations and scrutiny of royalty,” he wrote.

“Yet without royal status, their long-term earning potential could be in doubt—and the power of their celebrity may also diminish the longer they stay away from Buckingham Palace.”

This isn’t helped by the couple’s decision to split their time between the UK and Canada, which has caused countless problems surrounding security and transport.

He added: “The unwelcome reality is harsh but simple: to deliver the kind of humanitarian message associated with her brand,

“And to maintain the profile her philanthropic ambitions required, there was no substitute for the royal-style logistics that previously surrounded Diana,”

The insider even hinted Prince Harry will be played by the unexpected downsides of retreating to a life outside of the United Kingdom.

Jepson suggested the Prince may one day miss the British royal family’s jam-packed schedule.

He noted the Prince was always happiest with a strict army routine.

He said: ”Not this year perhaps, or even next, but eventually the lost familiarity of habit, tradition, and a comforting routine may tug at the Duke’s heart,”

“It’s often been observed that Harry seemed happiest in the Army,

“with all those rules and regulations and discipline and responsibilities, those irksome, stifling, mundane duties.”

Their decision to step down as senior royals has presented something of a logistical nightmare.

While the question of who will foot their security bill still hangs in the air, it is confirmed they will cease to be working royals from March 31.

Last week a Sussex spokesman confirmed Meghan and Harry would no longer use their “Sussex Royal” brand name following their change of status at the end of the month.

The statement said this was due to UK Government rules around the use of the word “royal” outside Britain.

However, Meghan and Harry were quick to issue their own statement which seemed to contradict that of their spokesperson.

In a statement published on their website Harry and Meghan said: “While there is not any jurisdiction by The Monarchy or Cabinet Office over the use of the word ‘Royal’ overseas,

“The Duke and Duchess of Sussex do not intend to use ‘Sussex Royal’ or any iteration of the word ‘Royal’ in any territory (either within the UK or otherwise) when the transition occurs Spring 2020.”

Harry and Meghan will finish their royal duties on March 31.
