Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s Endgame silence ‘detrimental’ to Hollywood plan

Harry and Meghan are fighting a war against themselves says Giles

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have been warned that their silence over Omid Scobie’s Endgame could prove “detrimental” to their brand.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been trying to establish themselves as trustworthy Hollywood entrepreneurs since stepping down from their royal roles in 2020.

To this end, they struck a now-collapsed deal with Spotify within months of leaving the Royal Family and followed it up with a multi-million agreement with Netflix.

But as they struggle to deliver on a new project after their successful tell-all docuseries Harry & Meghan, they now face the additional challenge of having their reliability questioned.

PR expert Renae Smith told the Daily Express that failing to reject claims of having collaborated with Scobie could have a negative impact on their efforts to promote their celebrity brand.

The couple have so far refused to directly address any of the allegations the author made in his biography – and they have also faced speculation suggesting they provided Scobie with inside information for the book.

While the author insisted he doesn’t have close ties with the Duchess, she last year was forced to U-turn on previous claims and confirm she had helped Scobie and his colleague Carolyn Durant while they wrote the book Finding Freedom.

The Atticism founder said: “The detailed depiction of the Sussexes’ private lives in ‘Endgame,’ regardless of its source, will most likely impact public perception significantly.

“If the public believes that the Sussexes are the origin of these insights, it will most certainly cast them in an unfavourable light (here in the UK), potentially amplifying negative stereotypes.

“This portrayal might lead to a perception that they are overly open about their private affairs, a stance which could be detrimental in a culture that often appreciates discretion and restraint.”

Scobie claims to have been shown personal correspondence between the Duchess of Sussex and King Charles.

In the book, the author painted a rather grim picture of senior members of the Royal Family – especially when detailing their relationship with Meghan.

Kate, the Princess of Wales was depicted as “cold” and unwilling to listen to her sister-in-law’s “cries for help” while she struggled with her mental health.

Prince William, whose relationship with his brother has been frosty for years, was instead described as “hot-headed” and prone to outbursts – a claim Harry also made in his memoir Spare, in which he accused the Prince of Wales of physically attacking him.

Scobie insisted he had not conversation with the couple while writing the book but claimed to have shared friends with the Duchess.
