The couple’s first child is expected later this month or in May. There has been speculation the baby will receive both UK and US citizenship, to which it would be eligible. According to culture experts from language app Babbel there are several traditional American celebrations the new royal tot could participate in.

These include Independence Day, Thanksgiving and President’s Day, none of which are commonly marked in Britain.

The US celebrates its independence from Britain each year on July 4, a potentially awkward date for the new royal growing up.

Speaking to Express.co.uk a Babbel spokesman said: “We’d expect Meghan will make the most of this day, using it to educate her son or daughter about their American heritage.

“The Duke and Duchess of Sussex could also use Independence Day as an opportunity to spend time with American and British relatives and friends, as well as enjoy a firework display at Frogmore Cottage.”

On the fourth Thursday of November each year festivities in America mark Thanksgiving, which commemorates the support native Americans gave English settlers at the Plymouth Rock colony in 1621.

The food they provided helped the new arrivals survive their first winter in the new world.

Explaining the significance of the celebration the culture analysts at Babbel commented: “Possibly the most American holiday, Thanksgiving, is one of the traditions Meghan is likely to insist upon celebrating as her child grows up.

“Families travel far and wide to spend time with each other on this special holiday, sit down for a delicious and indulgent meal and, more often than not, enjoy a game of American football.

“The Sussex family is likely to spend the day in the States with Meghan’s loved ones, sharing a mighty feast and giving thanks.”

As Meghan is largely estranged from her father it is more likely she would seek to spend time with her mother, Doria Ragland.

Many Americans also choose to mark President’s Day, which takes place on the third Monday of February each year.

The celebration was originally held to mark George Washington’s birthday but later spread to include all Presidents.

The specialists said: “There aren’t any huge celebrations attached to the day itself, but it will give Meghan and Harry a good opportunity to educate their child about important events in American history.”
