Meghan Markle and Prince Harry ‘suffering consequences’ because staff too ‘afraid’

The Duchess of Sussex came under fierce criticism after her bodyguards forbade the public from taking photos of the Royal while attending a Wimbledon match last Thursday – even though 12,000 members of the public were attending the event. But Royal expert Dickie Arbiter told Nine News Australia that he felt the upset may have been the result of miscommunication between the Royal and her security team – a phenomenon that may plague the Duchess and the Prince on account of their staff feeling intimidated. Commenting on the incident at Wimbledon tennis tournament, Nine News host Georgie Gardner said: “There’s no doubt there has been a fair bit of criticism for the couple of late.

“And you sort of wonder – just how much more they can take of it before things turn really quite nasty?”

Mr Arbiter replied: “It’s interesting. They’ve got a new press secretary: Sara Latham.

“And I wonder whether they are listening to her or whether she is advising them.

“There’s a bit of ‘red carpet fever’ when people first go into Buckingham Palace or work for the Royals.

“They don’t know how to take them.

“They’re afraid of offending them. They’re afraid of actually saying ‘no, you cannot do that.’

“So what happens is it ends up the Royals are not being advised or being advised incorrectly.

“And my guess is there’s probably not the advice going to them.

“And if the advice is going to them and they’re not listening then they’ll just have to suffer the consequences.”

Meghan Markle made two massive “faux-pas” while watching friend Serena Williams at the tennis championships last week before her son’s christening.

According to The Times, she made few friends when she appeared at the All England Club’s members’ area while wearing a pair of jeans. Etiquette for the event means those in the area are expected to dress in formal attire.

Organisers also criticised her “self-regarding paranoia” after her bodyguards were forced to tell tennis fans to stop snapping the Duchess.

One member, who has been at the club for 30 years, remarked: “She’s not allowed to wear jeans.”

A source close to the All England Club said: ”She wanted to come incognito but there were problems.

“They couldn’t invite her into the royal box because she was wearing jeans but that didn’t really matter because all she wanted to do was come and watch Serena.

“Andy Murray was on Court 1 afterwards and it was a massive faux pas not to watch a Brit when she is signed up to the Royal Family.”

And one official went further, adding: “It was a nightmare, she was a nightmare.”

Meghan ruffled feathers after her staff reportedly ordered people in the stands to stop taking her photograph during the appearance.
