Meghan Markle, 39, has come under fire for using her royal title on the front of a children’s book she has written inspired by the relationship between her husband and son. The Duchess of Sussex’s debut publication for youngsters is called The Bench and is about the special bond between a father and son – as seen through a mother’s eyes, Puffin, an imprint of Penguin Random House Children’s UK announced. Royal commentator Richard Eden has said Meghan and Prince Harry give the public “reason” to criticise them.
Speaking to Palace Confidential on MailPlus, Mr Eden said: “They just keep giving people a reason to criticise them, I think.
“First of all, I find it hard to keep up with the Sussexes.
“One minute they’re criticising the royal family, they’re attacking them publicly and the next minute Meghan’s using that royal title on her book.
“Loads of people have titles.
“There’s the royal biographer Sarah Bradford and she’s a Viscountess.
“She didn’t use it on the cover of her books.
“Also the subject matter, one minute they’re in the courts over privacy and the next they’re writing a book inspired by a poem she wrote for Harry for Father’s Day and it’s all about a father’s relationship with his son.
“It’s all very strange to me.”
Meghan Markle discusses her daughter’s future
Australia’s Sunrise correspondent Peter Ford has said the book is for “commerical gain” which is against Queen’s wishes to use the royal title.
He said: “What was she going to do? She was either going to write a children’s book or country music songs.
“The book has already gone right to the top of the bestseller list based on pre-sales and orders.
“The thing about this is although it’s a nice feel-good thing to write a lovely children’s book, this is not being done for the Archewell Foundation.
“It’s not being done for charity.”

“This money is going straight into her Glomesh which is why it gets very tricky when she starts putting on the Duchess of Sussex title on the book because this is for commercial gain and you cannot use a royal title for commercial gain.”
The Queen stripped Meghan and Prince Harry from their royal patronages after they confirmed they would not return to their royal careers in February 2021.
In 2020, Her Majesty had also ordered the couple to end the usage of their Sussex Royal brand as royals have been customarily told to use their titles for work.
The Sussexes, who recently gave an explosive tell-all interview about the Royal Family, said they were cut off from the Royal Family funds following Megxit.
