The Duchess of Sussex will likely still be on maternity leave by the time Mr Trump comes to the UK on June 3, as her firstborn will have arrived only a few weeks earlier. This could mean Meghan will remain in her home in Windsor, Frogmore Cottage, rather than attend the lavish banquet to be thrown by Queen Elizabeth II for some 170 guests. If Meghan’s maternity leave lasts until June, Prince Harry is expected to remain by her side to help the new mum and enjoy their firstborn, as one of his close friends had previously suggested. 

They said: “He doesn’t need to take paternity leave because he doesn’t work in the way most people do, but he thinks it’s a very modern dad thing to do.”

However, Meghan has made it “clear” she wants to get back to her royal duties “as soon as possible”, according to a royal insider, which makes a meeting between her and Mr Trump still possible.

A royal source told The Sun: “Meghan has made it very clear she wants to return to work as soon as possible.  

“She has huge amounts of energy, is extremely determined and wants to be as hands-on as possible with her charities. 

“Nothing has been written into her diary just yet, as she wants to wait and see how she feels after having the baby.

“She’s pencilled in three months, but she’ll most likely return to public life in six weeks — on the Queen’s official birthday, Trooping the Colour, in June.”

The Duchess has been a vocal critic of Mr Trump before joining the Royal Family upon marrying Harry on May 19 last year. 

During the 2016 presidential campaign, Meghan said she would have voted for his rival Hillary Clinton and labelled the tycoon “divisive” and “misogynist”. 

Prince Harry’s views on the US President aren’t known, as members of the British Royal Family are expected to be above politics and not express their political preferences.

However, Meghan’s father Thomas has previously claimed Harry told him to “give Mr Trump a chance” in a conversation he said they have had over the phone. 

Meghan’s first child is due any day now.

The exact due date of Meghan’s baby has never been revealed by Kensington Palace, but the Duchess shared some details regarding her pregnancy during a royal engagement in mid-January, which led many to think the baby will be due by the end of this month.

During a visit to Birkenhead in Wirral, Merseyside, the Duchess told fans she was six months pregnant and that she would be expecting her royal baby to arrive towards the end of April or the very beginning of May.
