Meghan Markle and Prince Harry were victims of a home invasion twice over the Christmas period, according to reports. Royal expert Russel Myers insisted the pair’s security measures were “very concerning”. Police have arrested the alleged trespasser after he was caught for the second time in three days.

The trespassing reportedly occurred over the Christmas period, once on Christmas Eve and the second time three days later.

Mr Myers said: “These are very, very concerning issues for Meghan Markle and Prince Harry.

“We heard them on their interview with Oprah Winfrey saying that their security by the British Government had essentially been taking away.

“This was because they were no longer working royals.

“We heard Harry saying that he had to sign to these deals with Netflix and Spotify which has brought in tens of millions of dollars in order to pay for their security.

“This was a guy that had driven over 2,000 miles to break into their house, not once but twice.

“Now he has been arrested and charged and we await a court date but we are very concerned for Harry and Meghan.”

During his interview with Oprah, Prince Harry insisted he was forced to find other income after the Queen stopped paying for him and his family’s security.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are 'bitter' claims Levin

He said: “We didn’t have a plan.

“That was suggested by somebody else by the point of where my family literally cut me off financially, and I had to afford security for us.”

“I’ve got what my mum left me, and without that, we would not have been able to do this.”

During the interview, Meghan added: “I even wrote letters to his family saying: ‘Please, it’s very clear the protection of me or Archie is not a priority. I accept that, that is fine – please keep my husband safe.”

Despite the concerning revelations in the interview, Meghan and Harry’s reputation has fallen amongst the public, police and royal commentators.

An ex-Scotland Yard officer said: “It is astonishingly arrogant of them to presume the taxpayer would pick up the bill for millions of pounds to protect them.

“This is when they have stepped down as members of the Royal Family, carry out no official duties and live in luxury in a foreign country.”

Asked whether the Queen may seek to review the current arrangement, Mr Myers said that it is unlikely the situation will change as additional royal protection would have to be agreed to by the British Government.

He added: “I don’t think, at the moment, the move is going to be too popular with the way that they were sounding last week.”
