Prince Harry and Meghan Markle recently announced they would be working with Netflix, having signed up to a £112million with Netflix to make documentaries, docu-series, feature films, scripted shows and children’s programming. In a statement, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex said: “Our focus will be on creating content that informs but also gives hope. As new parents, making inspirational family programming is also important to us.”

The duo added that Netflix’s “unprecedented reach will help us share impactful content that unlocks action”.

It was understood the couple’s roles would be behind the camera, not in front of it.

But now, it seems as though Harry and Meghan have done a U-turn, going in the opposite direction with an upcoming reality TV show.

A source said the Duchess of Sussex is eager for the world to see the “real her”.

They added: “It will be tasteful. They want to give people a glimpse into their lives.”

Former Suits actress Meghan, and Prince Harry said they wanted to “shine a light on people and causes around the world” with their Netflix programming.

But one source told The Sun: “They may have had all these lofty ideas about producing epics highlighting environmental causes and the poverty gap but Netflix obviously want their pound of flesh.”

It is understood cameras will follow the Duke and Duchess around for three months, but it has not yet been revealed if filming will take place in their new Montecito home in Santa Barbara.

The source added: “Much of the docu-series will be about their philanthropy rather than what they get up to behind closed doors.

“But it will still be a fascinating insight and Meghan hopes viewers will get to see the real her.”

However, the move by Harry and Meghan has been viewed as hypocritical by critics – given the reasons they cited for exiting the UK.

The Sussexes moved to the US in an effort to find privacy and financial independence following a tumultuous relationship with Britain’s media.

Editor of Majesty Magazine Ingrid Seward said: “We were told they had gone to California for greater privacy so it all appears rather hypocritical.

“It is extraordinary. This is exactly what they said they would not do.

“The more they talk about themselves the more people will want them to do just that and won’t be interested in anything they have to offer.”

A spokesperson from Netflix said: ”The couple already have several projects in development, including an innovative nature docs-series and an animates series that celebrates inspiring women.

“But we are not disclosing any of the programming slate at this time.”

It comes amid fears Meghan and Harry are damaging the monarchy by speaking out on the upcoming US election.

In a recent video broadcast, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex urged people to vote in the November 3 election, while Prince Harry admitted he has never voted in his lifetime.

The video broadcast came under fire by critics who believed the message was strongly anti-Donald Trump and pro-Joe Biden.
