Meghan Markle, 38, and Prince Harry, 35, announced their intentions to step down as senior royals at the start of the year and quickly reached an agreement about the terms of their withdrawal with Queen Elizabeth II.

On March 31 the couple ceased to be working members of the Royal Family and have since settled in Los Angeles with their one-year-old son Archie Harrison.

Meghan and Harry are expected to remain in LA for the foreseeable future and have kept a relatively low profile since their royal withdrawal.

While they have appeared on video calls to offer messages of support to their charities amid the coronavirus crisis, their presence is significantly pared back to when they were working royals.

As senior royals, Meghan and Harry amassed 11 million followers on their Sussex Royal Instagram account which they had to bid farewell to at the end of March.

That’s because it was agreed with the Queen they would not use the word ‘Royal’ in conjunction with their work going forward.

The Megxit agreement stated key changes for the couple would take effect from Spring 2020 – these changes included Meghan and Harry’s discontinued use of the word ‘royal.’

However, as May draws to a close their Sussex Royal website remains active prompting some to question whether they are at risk of breaking the terms of their Megxit deal.

One royal commentator has suggested Meghan and Harry may have to issue a statement to explain their continued use of SussexRoyal.com if the site remains active into June.

Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams told Express.co.uk: “In the agreement with the Queen made at Sandringham which is to be reviewed in a year’s time, Harry and Meghan agreed not to use the name Sussex Royal, as they will no longer be working members of the royal family.

“They have withdrawn trademark applications to use the name.

“They agreed that their non-profit charitable organisation, yet to be launched, will not use the name ‘Royal’ and have since decided it will be called Archewell.

“They did, on they’re website, claim that there was no jurisdiction over the use of ‘Royal’ by the monarchy or government abroad which clearly indicated that they were unhappy with this decision.”

Mr Fitzwilliams added: “Their website still uses sussexroyal.com/spring-2020-transition/ as a link which is curious as Spring, when the change is supposed to occur as stated on their website, officially ends on 31st May.

“I assume that it will no longer be used after that date.”

The website which contains details of Meghan and Harry’s “Spring 2020 Transition” remained active on May 27.

Mr Fitzwilliams claims ceasing to use the website should be a small step for the couple considering they are no longer working members of the Royal Family.

He added: “They did, after all, cease to be working members of the royal family with a view to becoming financially independent on 31st March.

“It should not be too onerous for them to keep to the agreement.”

Mr Fitzwilliams added: “They are reportedly behind a book by Omid Scobie and Catherine Durand, Finding Freedom, which is apparently intended to give their perspective on the last two turbulent years and is due to be published in August.

“One only finds freedom if one has been incarcerated so I await their side of the story with some trepidation.

“Meanwhile if the use of sussex.royal continues into the summer which would be in breach of the agreement not to do so, I trust they will issue a statement as to why this is.”
