The Duchess of Sussex was more than involved in the details of her wedding to Prince Harry as she chose the playlist for the evening reception herself. Actor and DJ Idris Elba, who was behind the turntables on 19 May 2018, revealed to The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon that he barely had anything to do since the bride had done most of the work.

“Meghan had sent me a playlist, so I knew what she wanted already,” he explains.

The actor, who had previously performed as a DJ for Madonna and even collaborated on a track with Sir Paul McCartney, notes that those were all “high-pressure gigs.”

However, when he’s asked which he found to be “most stressful”, he replies: “The wedding, no doubt.

“This wasn’t like my cousin’s wedding.

“This wasn’t at the community hall — the reception.

“This was a big, big deal.”

He adds of the Sussexes: “They’re good friends and I wanted to make sure they had a great time, so there was a lot of pressure.”

The actor has supported Harry and Meghan after their decision to step back from royal duties and move to California.

The couple’s interview with Oprah, which sparked outrage in the UK, was praised by Idris Elba.

“I will say that everyone has to have their opportunity to speak up about what they feel, you cannot take someone’s voice away, that’s what we have to communicate,” he said.

Mr Elba isn’t the only celebrity who performed at the royal wedding since Elton John himself entertained the guests.

The hitmaker said: “It was very, very wonderful to be there.

“To have a black gospel choir, a multiracial bride, a black cellist, who was wonderful, a preacher —it felt like a party, and it felt like progress had been made.

“Thank god, thank god.”

Elton’s husband, David Furnish also had a lovely time at the wedding, saying: “What was so inspiring, and it sounds corny, but, true love is what really shone through and that’s what everybody felt, the sincerity and the integrity of that true love on the day.”
