Meghan ‘felt sorry’ for Kate in rare sign of friendship between the royal women

Meghan Markle “felt sorry” for the Princess of Wales during her first appearance after Prince George’s birth, an insider has claimed, in a rare sign of friendship between the pair.

Although all eyes were on the future King, who celebrated his 10th birthday on Saturday, it was Kate who also appeared to surprise royal fans with her glamorous appearance.

The then-Duchess of Cambridge wowed fans, alongside a proud Prince William, in a baby blue polka dot dress, which was made bespoke for her by designer Jenny Packham.

Following the birth of their son Archie in 2019, Meghan and Prince Harry opted for a slightly less out-there first reveal of their son in St George’s Hall.

Two days after his birth, Archie was presented to the world with Meghan and Prince Harry clearly ecstatic to become parents.

Despite still choosing to make a public reveal of their son, the source told Page Six that Meghan had been put her off of doing a reveal such as Kate’s. The source shared that Kate’s polished look post-birth had been one of the factors towards Meghan’s feelings.

This had been enhanced particularly after Kate’s immaculate appearance following Prince Louis’s birth in 2018, which fell just over one year before Archie’s.

The sympathy Meghan felt for Kate is a rare sign of friendship after the pair’s well-documented disagreements.

In 2020, a disagreement that the two shared over Charlotte’s bridesmaid outfit to Meghan and Harry’s wedding came to light.

Also, following the Sussexes’ controversial interview with Oprah Winfrey, Kate was reportedly instrumental in crafting the response to the couple’s claims made in the interview.

In Courtier: The Hidden Power Behind The Crown, Times reporter Valentine Low states that Kate was the one who insisted that ‘recollections may vary’ was included in their response.

In 2013, as Kate and William stood on the Lindo Wing steps, William then took hold of his new son.

As the proud father took charge, the then-31-year-old proudly held onto her post-pregnancy bump – which fans praised.

Before appearing before the media and adoring spectators, the then-Duchess of Cambridge was given a beautifully-styled blow out and a simple, yet radiant, make-up look.

Kate’s hair was styled by Amanda Cook Taylor, her hair stylist at the time.

For her soft make-up look, Kate went for a subtle base, which was complete with rosy cheeks and a tiny bit of eyeliner.

Kate’s outfit choice was viewed as a sweet nod to her late mother-in-law Princess Diana, who wore a similar dress following the birth of William.

Kate’s post-birth appearance attracted a heap of praise from royal fans. Netmums founder Siobhan Freegard also took time to praise the new mum for showing off her post-birth stomach.

She said that the then-Duchess of Cambridge had dispelled the “myth that all mothers should be perfect postpartum”.

Praising the now-mother-of-three, she added: “Kate shows what a real mum looks like – and natural is beautiful.”
