Meghan celebrates 40th and 'may go on intimate getaway with Harry to celebrate'
Meghan Markle will be celebrating her 40th birthday ‘low key’ but Prince Harry may whisk her away on an ‘intimate’ trip, sources claim.
Insiders have quashed rumours that the couple are planning a party for 65 people at their £11 million mansion in California.
It was previously reported that Meghan, who turns 40 today, had enlisted top celebrity event planner Colin Cowie to organise her birthday celebration, but that is ‘absolutely not happening’, according to Page Six.
Sources told the publication that things will be quiet with their newborn baby Lili and their 2-year-old son Archie — especially amid the worsening Covid-19 situation in their new home state.
It’s not yet known what exact plans Harry has for his wife.
Those who know them said there are plenty of spots near their home where he can take his family.
Royal experts have also speculated that the Sussexes may release an eagerly-anticipated family photo to mark the special occasion.
Fans are still waiting to see a picture of Lili, who was born in June.
Royal commentator Phil Dampier said: ‘I think it’s likely we will see a picture of the family. It wouldn’t surprise me, if Meghan does release a pic of her with Lilibet to mark her 40th birthday, as they’ll will want to emphasise what a happy family unit they are.
‘And it will be interesting to see what messages she gets from the royals – I suspect they will post messages, even though in private they are very upset about was has happened.’
Meghan’s big day comes after a turbulent 12 months for the Sussexes.
The couple have established a new life for themselves in the celebrity enclave of Montecito in California, buying a multimillion-pound home and launching a non-profit foundation.
Harry and Meghan have also signed lucrative deals – thought to be worth well over £100 million – with Spotify and Netflix that have given them the capital to pursue their new lifestyle and public goals.
Much has been written about their decision to step down as senior royals for personal and financial freedom early last year – dubbed Megxit.
But it was only when the couple sat down for their much-anticipated television interview with Oprah Winfrey in March did they tell the world their side of the story.
The couple left the royal family in crisis with a series of shocking revelations that painted the monarchy as a racist and uncaring institution.
Last month, Harry revealed he is to pen his own tell-all memoir and has promised to write an ‘accurate and wholly truthful’ account of his life.
