Meghan and Harry’s move to ‘rival’ Queen’s royal tradition branded ‘banal and pathetic’
Meghan Markle and Harry ‘cowards’ for staying in US says Levin
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are reportedly launching a set of awards to celebrate “charitable service, education, science, literature, racial justice” and more. However, the Duke and Duchess have been accused of trying to create a ‘rival’ to the Queen’s honours list – a claim a spokeswoman for Meghan and Harry has denied. Royal biographer Angela Levin blasted the move when she spoke to talkRADIO’s Mike Graham.
She told listeners: “I actually think that to try and compete with Her Majesty the Queen on her honours list is like tiny children playing mummies and daddies.
“It’s just not possible, they’re nowhere near the rank.
“They’ve got about 12 PR people who are obviously going to hunt down people who can get all these awards.
“They’ve got something to do at last.”

Ms Levin continued: “It’s just banal and pathetic, I’m afraid.
“I’m astonished that Harry has given up caring one iota about his family, or his grandmother.
“I think for them to agree to do something like this is nonsense.
“They want ‘standout players’. Do you know what that is? I don’t.”

The biographer added: “They’re going to do it through their Archewell foundation, at last bringing it to life.
“It’s taken a long time because they didn’t realise you had to sign forms.
“But it’s just tragic, and I don’t think anyone’s going to pay more attention to them.”

Press Secretary for Archewell, Toya Holness told HELLO!: “We look forward to sharing more about Archewell’s work in the weeks ahead but any suggestion that it is intended to rival the UK honours list is false.
“Furthermore, the trademark application has followed the normal course of business for the US Trademark process and any suggestion otherwise is also false.”
The Queen has the sole right of conferring titles of honour on deserving people from all walks of life, in public recognition of their merit, service or bravery.
Most honours are awarded on the advice of the Cabinet Office, and anybody can make a recommendation if they know someone they believe to be worthy.
More than 1,000 people were recognised on the 2020 New Year Honours list.
The Queen also issues an honours list for her official birthday.
However that was pushed back to autumn of this year due to the coronavirus crisis.
