Meghan and Harry’s ‘hands are tied’ as ongoing strike puts project ‘on hold’
Meghan Markle’s Suits character lays law on new employee
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have found themselves with their “hands tied” as the ongoing Hollywood writers’ strike threatens their deal with Netflix, an insider claimed.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex signed a contract with the streaming platform only a few months after they stepped down from their working royal roles.
Since then, they have seen only one of their projects see the light of day – the six-part docuseries Harry & Meghan which was released in December.
With WGA and SAG-AFTRA members threatening to strike for months until their demands are met, the couple has been unable to push forward with their next big plan.
One source warned Harry and Meghan could face considerable financial hiccups – noting the Emmy snub they suffered last month has not helped them appease the streaming platform.

They told In Touch that the lack of a nomination was “just more backlash for the pair” in the weeks after Spotify confirmed their agreement with the couple had come to an end.
They added: “Rumour has it their Netflix deal is in danger; an Emmy nod would have gone a long way in securing their $100 million deal.”
Harry was expected to be working on a new documentary tackling humanitarian issues in South Africa but the strike is due to cause significant delays.
But the insider noted that “now all of that could be on hold,” because of writers and additional technical crew continue to picket major studios.
The source continued: “If Harry and Meghan’s hands are tied, that means less money will be coming in, and they can’t afford that after losing the Spotify deal.

“It all begs the question: Wouldn’t life have been a whole lot easier had they stayed at the palace?”
The comments come a week after US media reported the Duke of Sussex contacted Prince William to discuss a potential return to the UK.
Relations between the brothers has been tense since before Harry stepped down in March 2020 but the rift was further exacerbated by his and Meghan’s claims in the documentary.
The Duke’s comments about life growing up in the Royal Family included in his memoir Spare are believed to have further fuelled their differences.
Harry and William were last pictured together at the King’s Coronation in May, where they were sat rows apart and interaction with senior members of the family was kept at a minimum.
