Harry and Meghan ‘absolutely cannot be on that balcony’

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stepped down from the Royal Family three years ago but retained their titles as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. Earlier this month, the couple revealed that they had chosen to use their children’s royal titles – Prince Archie Harrison and Princess Lilibet Diana. Apprentice star and GB News commentator Ryan-Mark Parsons said the move “lacks authenticity” and claimed the couple should “give up” their titles, a view shared by 98 percent of Express.co.uk readers, a new poll has found.

Mr Parsons, who appeared on The Apprentice in 2019, spoke out about Harry and Meghan’s titles, telling Express.co.uk that they should renounce their titles.

He said: “If I were [Harry] and I detested the royals I would do my best to distance myself from the Royal Family. I would give up the Duke and Duchess of Sussex titles and not give my children any royal titles. They’re not doing that. To me, it lacks authenticity.

In a poll that ran from 11am on Monday, March 20, to 3.30pm on Thursday, March 30, Express.co.uk asked readers: “Should Harry and Meghan ‘give up’ Sussex title?”

A staggering 10,614 votes were cast, with the overwhelming majority, 98 percent (10,349 people) answering, “yes” they should give up their titles, compared to just two percent (234 people) who said, “no” they should not. A further 31 people said they did not know either way.

Hundreds of comments were left below the accompanying article as readers debated whether the couple should give up their titles.

The dominant view shared by readers was in support of Harry and Meghan relinquishing their dukedom, with username macsporran writing: “They most certainly should give up titles!”

Similarly, username memaw said: “Absolutely should be given up. They do not deserve the honour.”

Username mcCull added: “If they don’t give up the titles they should be removed.”

Another, username snowleopard commented: “The titles should have been removed immediately after they stepped down from royal duties.”

While username tellmywifiloveher said: “The people of Sussex should get a vote.”

However, username mibera remarked that there was “no chance” of the couple giving up their titles.
