Meghan and Harry told to ‘eat humble pie’ if they want Royal Family relationship
41-gun salute in Green Park for King Charles’ birthday
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry must “eat humble pie” if they are to save whatever is left of their relationship with the Royal Family, it has been suggested.
That’s the verdict of royal commentator Michael Cole, who claimed the Sussexes’ recent actions had been so “unthinkable” they could have ruined their chances of rebuilding altogether.
Harry has reportedly offered an olive branch to his father King Charles III, with reports suggesting he called his father to wish him a happy birthday on Tuesday. However, a well-placed source poured cold water on these claims.
The phone call came after it emerged Harry snubbed a party invite to mark the monarch’s 75th birthday.
Harry and Meghan were reportedly invited to the celebration party, The Sunday Times revealed, but appeared to snub the event.
And according to Cole while it seemed a difficult pathway forward you could “never say never” to Harry and Charles starting their relationship fresh.
He said: “At the end of the day, it’s a family. They will come together.”
The insider continued: “At the moment, things are too raw and it’ll be too difficult. In particular his relationship with William, that is a great shame.
“One of the worst things you can see is two brothers fighting. Their mother, Diana, would be mortified to see them at loggerheads.”

But Cole described how he was “quite sure the King would welcome a call from his young son” and that he would “like to think there will be reconciliation”.
He added: “There is a lot of fence mending needed and humble pie needs to be eaten by the California Two.
“What they’ve done is unthinkable. What men do not like is to have their wives insulted.”
Cole was referencing the numerous interviews and publications that Harry and Meghan have appeared on, lashing out at the Firm and some of its practices.

More recently, it appeared that any chance the pair had of sharing a moment on Charles birthday did not materialise according to a well-placed source.
Speaking to Express.co.uk, the source said: “News of a phone call came as a surprise. Let’s just say that.
“There might have been a willingness there for the Sussexes to call the King on his birthday, but it certainly wasn’t communicated to the other side in a timely fashion.”
They added: “The King certainly didn’t take the call during the day while he was busy working. The evening was spent with his family and friends and he didn’t have a private moment all evening.”
