The pre-recorded interview will be broadcast by US media company CBS on Sunday, March 7. A teaser released by the TV company to their YouTube channel on Sunday has whetted appetites and raised expectations of damaging disclosures. In one segment, Ms Winfrey says: “I just want to make it clear to everybody there is no subject which is off limits.”

Another section shows the US media mogul asking Meghan: “Were you silent or were you silenced?

Ms Winfrey is then filmed saying: “You said some pretty shocking things here.”

Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams told the Daily Star that he believed that the Duke and Duchess will aim their fire on both the media and palace officials.

He also cautioned that the interview would most likely cause long term damage to their relationships with the Royal Family.

“We will see when it airs, but the audience in a no holds barred interview – which this claims to be – will primarily want to know why they stepped back and then down as working royals,” he said.

“We know there will be fierce attacks on media intrusion and probably on courtiers.

“How personal will it get? How sensational?

“Something as big as this will affect their relationship with the rest of the Royal Family for the foreseeable future.”

The promotional teaser has sent Royal fans into meltdown, with many taking to social media to express their excitement.

One wrote: “Cant wait to watch. Harry and Meghan please don’t hold back.”

While a second posted: “The fact that Oprah is doing this interview makes it all the more special.

“Only Oprah could truly do this justice.

“This is a Meghan and Harry stan account so I will be watching from beginning to end, supporting them in whatever they do.”
