Meghan and Harry fans’ sweet gesture to celebrate baby Archie’s first Father’s Day

Fans of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are being encouraging donations to causes supported by Prince Harry using the hashtag #HappyFathersDayPrinceHarry. This includes Scotty’s Little Soldiers, which helps children who have lost a parent while serving in the British Armed Forces, and the Queen’s Commonwealth Trust, a charity Meghan is vice president of that supports young leaders in the Commonwealth countries. The baby shower fundraiser for Harry, who has served in the armed forces, was started by a group of fans who have called themselves #SussexSquad.

Tina and Michelle, who are hosts of The Sussex Set podcast, helped set up the project in honour of Prince Harry’s dedication to the armed forces.

They told Good Morning America: “We are honouring Prince Harry’s first Father’s Day because, like the Duchess of Sussex, he uses his platform to bring remarkable attention to global issues such as the welfare of service men and women, mental wellness, environmental conservation, gender equality in education, and HIV/AIDs.

“Hopefully this campaign lets him know that we see him and that we appreciate his and Meghan’s dedication to service.”

This isn’t the first time strangers have used the hashtag to donate money to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

Back in March, royals fans also used #GlobalSussexBabyShower to donate to three charities Harry and Meghan support ahead of the arrival of their first child Archie.

The couple thanked their supporters on Instagram by posting: “What an incredibly special surprise the grassroots led #globalsussexbabyshower was last Sunday!

“The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are immensely grateful for the outpouring of love and support in anticipation of the birth of their first child.

“In lieu of sending gifts, the couple have long planned to encourage members of the public to make donations to select charities for children and parents in need. If you already made a donation, the couple send you their greatest thanks.”

They then listed a number of charities for people to donate to.

Prince Harry will no doubt have a busy day planned for his first Father’s Day today.

His son Archie was born on May 6 and the prince was quick to gush about him right after his birth by calling him “amazing”.

He said just after Archie was born: “As every father and parent would ever say, you know, your baby is absolutely amazing, But this little thing is absolutely to die for, so I’m just over the moon.”
