Archie turned one on May 6 and despite the coronavirus lockdown he still had a big day. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex treated their son to a smash cake, balloons and Zoom calls from their new home in Los Angeles.
The family’s two dogs – beagle Guy and a black Labrador – described as Archie’s “best friends” were also there.
A source told US magazine People: “Meghan made the cake – strawberries and cream.
“And Harry helped with decorations and blew up balloons.
“They Zoomed with godparents, friends and family and had a really simple but incredibly joyous day.”
The source said that Archie “is best friends with his dogs”, who were part of the celebrations.
The insider added: “They make him laugh and are gentle with him.”
The Sussexes also released a video of Archie to mark his birthday.
In the clip, filmed by Harry, Meghan is reading the children’s story Duck! Rabbit! to her son on her lap.
Cheeky Archie plays with the pages of the book, by Amy Krouse Rosenthal and illustrated by Tom Lichtenheld, which asks whether an ambiguous image is a duck or rabbit.
The video was posted on Save the Children UK’s Instagram page.

Meghan, 38, and Harry, 35, are living in California with Archie after quitting the Royal Family for a new life in the US.
They stunned the world in January when they revealed plans to step back as senior royals in a bombshell statement.
The announcement sparked crisis royal talks to discuss their future roles.
The couple had hoped to continue supporting the Queen while earning their own money.
But the idea was deemed unworkable amid fears they would be accused of cashing in on their royal status.
They officially ended royal duties on March 31.
Archie has had a busy 12 months since he was born at London’s Portland Hospital on May 6 2019 at 5.26am, weighing 7lb 3oz.
His first home was Frogmore cottage in the grounds of Windsor Castle, then a mansion on Vancouver Island in Canada, and he now lives in America.
