McDonald's worker secretly pays for people's food in random acts of kindness

A McDonald’s drive-thru worker has been secretly paying for meals out of the kindness of her heart.

Enya Vegnere is paid £7.25 per hour but has still spent more than £50 on other customers since starting her job in January at the branch in Coventry, West Midlands.

The finance student says she wouldn’t pay for rude diners but is happy to buy a coffee or a burger for people who are polite and could do with cheering up.

She told the Sun: ‘I couldn’t tell you how many times I’ve done it. My motto is “takers eat better but givers sleep better”.

‘I don’t do it for recognition – I just think it’s nice to do nice things for people. You never know what someone is going through and what a kind gesture could do.’

Joshua Henry, 25, was completely unaware that the 19-year-old worker, from Coventry, had been using her bank card to pay for his bill.

But last week, he posted a video on Facebook showing her offering to pay after he called his mum and asked if she wanted anything form McDonald’s.

The lucky customer wrote: ‘Proper cheered me up after having a depressing day with the fact I’m at high risk of redundancy.

‘I will pay this kind act forward tomorrow for sure. If anyone knows Enya please let her know that she’s made my week and she is a legend. Her parents should be proud.

Enya added: ‘I thought it was cute that he called his mum – not everyone is that considerate of their parents. I thought why not reward his thoughtfulness – it was only £4, a hot chocolate and a couple of burgers.’

She says Joshua got in touch later to thank her but says she ‘didn’t want any recognition or praise’ and that people shouldn’t do good deeds because they ‘expect something back’.

But Joshua, a rapper by the name of Josh-U-R, said he spoke to the manager of the McDonald’s to ask if they could give Enya an extra day’s holiday, although he is not sure if it worked.

He said he ‘paid forward’ Enya’s act of kindness by buying a meal for a person in Greggs, who said they would also pay it forward.
