Mwapa Kap, 31, ordered two meals with various extras through Just Eat and the food was delivered promptly from the McDonald’s near Belgrave, Leicester. However, he said items – including all five dips he paid for – were missing from the £20 order and all of the food, as well as the two coffees, were cold.
When he called the restaurant, he claims one employee initially swore at him, a second said she didn’t speak English and a third said they’d call the police on him.
Speaking to Leicestershire Live today, Mr Kap said: “I rang up McDonald’s to arrange to return everything and get fresh food sent out but the guy on the phone just said, ‘Why don’t you just **** off’ and hung up the phone.
“I called a second time and the moment I started speaking they just hung up on me.
“The third time I got through to a woman who said, ‘I don’t speak English’ and hung up.
“The next time they threatened to call the police because I was harassing them.”
The man, from Belgrave, said the customer service was “appalling”.
McDonald’s has apologised for the diner’s experience, which happened on Sunday morning, but Mr Kap remains upset.
“It’s really bad. It’s kind of a joke,” he added.
“I live around the corner so it’s pretty shocking. They must have had the stuff just hanging around in the restaurant.
“I noticed that one of the McMuffins had no extra sausage, which I’d paid for, one hash brown was missing and none of the sauces I had on my receipt were included, which I’d also paid for.
“All the food and even both the coffees were completely cold.”
Mr Kap doesn’t blame Just Eat but was given a full refund from the delivery firm.
His apology from McDonald’s stated: “Please accept my apologies. Your feedback means we can make changes and improve the service we provide to our customers.
“We’re therefore very confident you will notice a change the next time you choose to order from us.”
A spokesperson for the fast food chain said: “We are disappointed to hear this customer’s experience was not a positive one.
“It did not meet the high standards we expect.
“Food quality is of the utmost importance to us and we place great emphasis on quality control and follow rigorous standards in order to avoid any imperfections.
“However, we understand the customer is in contact with the Just Eat customer services team and the full cost of the meal has been refunded.”
