McDonald's customer 'douses manager with hot coffee over a penny'
A man ordering through a McDonald’s drive-thru allegedly splashed the manager with hot coffee after arguing over a mere penny.
Elizar Ravelo, 64, was known as a regular at the fast food chain’s location in Miami Springs, Florida, and would order a Sausage McMuffin with a separate round egg and a senior coffee, shift manager Nayib Garcia told Local 10 News.
But on a recent visit to the restaurant at 4999 NW 36th St, he was not happy with the breakfast order cost.
Surveillance footage captured Ravelo getting into an argument with a store manager. When the manager handed Ravelo a cup of hot coffee, he slapped the drink away and drove off.

‘I think it hit her in the face, and then on the rest of the arm,’ said Garcia.
‘Most of the burn was on the arm.’
Ravelo’s meltdown was over the smallest monetary amount.
‘What the rest of the crew told me, it was over a penny,’ Garcia said.
The manager who suffered the burn, Stephanie Restuccia, said she was shocked by Ravelo’s behavior.
‘As soon as I pulled out the coffee to give it to him, he smashed the coffee and like coffee went everywhere, it burned my arm from here to here,’ she told NBC6. ‘So I was like, OK, now what happens?’
Restuccia said the hot beverage spilled on her right arm and chest and left red burns.
‘You never think that somebody’s gonna actually do it,’ she said.
A police report stated that Ravelo was outraged ‘over the amount he was being charged’.
Ravelo turned himself in to police on Monday in connection with the incident from August 25. In interviews with cops, he said he was not pleased with the service he received.
He was arrested and charged with felony battery. As of Tuesday morning, Ravelo was still being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center with his bond set at $5,000.
The incident happened less than a month before an elderly woman sued a McDonald’s restaurant in San Francisco after a cup of hot coffee spilled on her groin and legs after a drive-thru employee allegedly did not secure the lid.
