Manchester bomber's terrorist brother guilty of attacking prison guard
Three convicted terrorists including the brother of the Manchester Arena bomber have been found guilty of attacking a prison officer.
Paul Edwards, 57, was hit with a chair and repeatedly punched and kicked by Hashem Abedi, 24, Parsons Green Tube bomber Ahmed Hassan, 22, and Muhammed Saeed, 23.
All three prisoners denied assault causing actual bodily harm (ABH) to Mr Edwards in Belmarsh’s high security unit.
But they were found guilty by a jury at Woolwich Crown Court today after around three-and-a-half hours of deliberations.
Abedi was also found guilty of assaulting prison officer Nick Barnett as he came to his colleague’s aid.
Mrs Justice Cheema-Grubb said she will sentence them later on Tuesday.
Saeed was jailed for five years in May last year after speaking about carrying out a knife attack in London.
