Manchester Arena bomber Hashem Abedi charged with jail assaults

Abedi, 23, who plotted the atrocity with his brother, is accused of causing actual bodily harm to the guard at top security HMP Belmarsh. Also charged with the attack are Parsons Green Tube train bomber Ahmed Hassan, 21, and Muhammed Saeed, 22. Abedi is also charged with assaulting a second guard in the same incident. They will appear at Bromley magistrates’ court on April 7.
Abedi is serving 22 life sentences with a record 55-year minimum term for his part in the 2017 arena attack.
He was convicted of 22 murders and plotting to cause an explosion with his brother, suicide bomber Salman.
Hassan planted a bomb on a London Tube train in 2017. It exploded, injuring 51 passengers but no one died. He was jailed for life with a 34-year minimum term.
Saeed, of Manchester, admitted possessing terrorist documents and was awaiting sentence.
