Man who raped schoolgirl every week for five years jailed
A man was sentenced to 20 years in jail after admitting to raping a minor two to three times a week for five years.
Adrian Donaldson raped a young girl from the age of 12 to the age of 17 at an address in Tottenham, north London, causing her to fall pregnant with his child twice.
The court heard that Donaldson would rape the young girl, who knew him, after he had been drinking or taking drugs, make her send him nude photos and would ask her to visit him.
She fell pregnant with his child twice in 2017 and 2018, aborted both and told her mother the pregnancies were with her boyfriend at school.
The 37-year-old told his victim that if she told anyone about the abuse he would accuse her of ‘coming onto him’, which made the young girl feel suicidal and unable to report it.
Donaldson was first arrested for sexual assault by touching a female under 18 and later arrested for multiple counts of rape and causing a person to engage in sexual activity without consent after police interviewed the victim.
Initially, Donaldson denied all the allegations to the police but he later pleaded guilty to seven counts of rape, attempted rape, sexual assault and causing a person to engage in sexual activity without consent between January 2015 and January 2020.
Wood Green Crown Court sentenced him to 20 years in prison on Friday.
Eventually, the victim’s mother found out about her daughter’s ordeal and reported it to the police.
When officers went to his address they found Donaldson drunk and attempting to assault the victim again.
Detective Sergeant Gill Cousins said: ‘This is a horrific crime and the victim was subjected to a horrendous ordeal. The effects of these crimes on the victim will undoubtedly remain with her forever.
‘I commend the bravery the victim has shown to help us bring this man to justice.
‘I urge anyone who has been a victim of sexual assault either recently or historically to come forward and speak with police.’
About 90% of rape victims know their rapists and only 15% of those who have experienced sexual violence report it to the police, according to Rape Crisis England and Wales.
