Man to stand trial accused of trying to murder £5.5million lottery winning partner

Stephen Gibbs, 45, denies the attempted murder of partner Emma Brown, 49. Emma was allegedly stabbed in the face at their luxury £700,000 home during lockdown.

South Wales Police confirmed the arrest and charging of Gibbs.

A spokeswoman told the Mirror: “Stephen Gibbs, 45, has been charged with attempted murder, following an incident at a premise at Lakeside, Barry, at around 10pm on Saturday, January 30.

“Gibbs is remanded in custody and will next appear at Cardiff Crown Court on March 1.”

Emma required surgery following the alleged knife attack. 

She won the life-changing jackpot three years ago and quit her job. 

Stephen Gibbs appeared at Cardiff Crown Court via video link from HMP Cardiff today.

He wore a grey sweatshirt and denied attempted murder.

Judge Daniel Williams set a three- day trial for September 13. 

Judge Williams said: “You have pleaded not guilty to attempted murder. The prosecution seeks a trial and that will take place on September 13.

You must set out a defence statement setting out what your defence is to that charge.”

Stephen Gibbs was remanded in custody.
