Fire crews, paramedics and police have been dealing with a blaze this afternoon after locals reported hearing an explosion and flames engulf a property in Bromage Crescent. Firefighters pulled a man from the partially collapsed building and he has since been taken to hospital for treatment.

Six fire engines attended the scene while locals were told to stay away.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) confirmed that there have been no other casualties aside from the man who has been taken to hospital.

SFRS group commander Andy McDermott said: “We would ask the public to avoid the area for their safety as well as motorists to help maintain access for emergency service vehicles.”
