Man surrenders after shooting relative dead at birthday party
A man turned himself in after allegedly shooting a relative dead at a birthday party and injuring a woman.
Geoliver Tineo, 23, reportedly went to the birthday party at the Brooklyn apartment of Delvin Diaz, 33. An altercation broke out because Tineo, the nephew of Diaz’s sister-in-law, was not invited or had a guest who was not invited with him, police told the New York Post.
Tineo is accused of firing shots toward Diaz outside his home on Drew Street by Stanley Avenue on Saturday night. Diaz was struck several times, cops said.
In addition, a 31-year-old woman was grazed in the head. It was not immediately known if Tineo was targeting her.
Diaz was transported to Brookdale University Hospital Medical Center, where he died of the wounds. The woman was also taken to the same hospital and is in stable condition.
Tineo surrendered to law enforcement officials early Sunday, about four hours after the 9.30pm ordeal.
He has been charged with murder, attempted murder and criminal possession of a loaded firearm.
