Man stabbed to death in east London during night of violence

A man, believed to be in his late 20s, has been stabbed to death during a night of violence in the capital.

Police were called to the junction of Ron Leighton Way and Wakefield Street in Newham, east London, at 11.07pm on Saturday where they found the man suffering from stab wounds.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been informed.

A post-mortem will be held, as well as formal identification.

Police have launched a murder investigation.

Later on the same night, a man and a woman were stabbed near Manor House in Hackney and were taken to an east London hospital.

Their condition is not known.

The Met Police said officers were called to reports of a man brandishing a knife at around 11.30pm.

They were pelted with bottles and missiles as they arrived at the scene, and had to call for additional help from the National Air Service and specialist officers.

Police tweeted they were “dealing with spontaneous outbursts of disorder” on the Woodberry Down Estate.

The attacks came on the same day a woman who was around eight months pregnant was stabbed to death in a separate incident, with her baby delivered at the scene.

The incidents come amid a spate of knife attacks in the capital, with teenager Yusuf Mohamed stabbed to death while trying take cover in a Shepherd’s Bush convenience store on Wednesday evening.
