Birmingham: Police close off Kings Heath High Street

Police have launched a murder probe after a man was fatally stabbed in the early hours in Birmingham as the killer is still at large. Kings Heath High Street in a popular suburb in the south of the city is currently closed between Station Road and Queensbridge Road. West Midlands Police said officers were called to High Street, near the junction with Queensbridge Road, just before 2.25am after a man suffered serious injuries.

He was confirmed dead at the scene, Birmingham Live reports. The force said: “A cordon is currently in place while we carry out investigations into why this happened and who was responsible. We thank everyone for their patience while we do so.”

Bus service NX West Midlands tweeted: “Service disruption due to an incident on Kings Heath High Street. Services 35 & 50 are diverting both directions via Alcester Road, Addison Road, Brook Lane, Yardley Wood Road, Wake Green Road Apologies for any disruption to your journey.”

A West Midlands Police statement said: “A murder investigation is under way after a man was fatally stabbed in Kings Heath this morning.

“We were called to High Street, near the junction with Queensbridge Road, just before 2.25am after a man suffered serious injuries.

“Despite the best efforts of emergency services he was confirmed dead at the scene. A cordon is currently in place while we carry out investigations into why this happened and who was responsible. We thank everyone for their patience while we do so.”
