Man dies following 'incident' at construction site for new Everton stadium

A man has died after being injured at Bramley Moore dock, where the new football stadium for Everton is being built.

The 26-year-old is believed to have died in an incident involving heavy machinery, the Liverpool Echo reported.

Police were called to the scene at around 1pm, and the man was taken to Aintree Hospital where he was later declared dead.

In a social media post, Merseyside Police said: ‘We can confirm that a man has died after an incident at Bramley Moore Dock this afternoon.

‘At around 1pm it was reported that a man, aged 26, had been injured.

‘He was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead. His next of kin have been told and an investigation is underway.’

Officials from the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) are currently making inquiries on site.

Everton FC plan to move into the new stadium on the banks of the Mersey late next year, when they will leave their current home of Goodison Park.
