A man has died following a fatal collision in Co Carlow.

The man, who was in his twenties, was travelling alone in his car when it collided with another vehicle on the Tullow to Carlow Road (R726), approximately five miles from Tullow. The incident occurred at 6.15pm earlier this evening.

The driver of the second car, a man in his fifties, was injured and conveyed to St Luke’s Hospital in Kilkenny. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

The road has since been closed by gardai to facilitate a forensic investigation.
