Man dies after tree falls on car in Surrey

A man has died after a tree fell on a car in Surrey.

Firefighters used cutting equipment to get the man out of the silver Lexus on the A308 Windsor Road at the junction with the Runnymede roundabout in Egham.

Surrey Police said the “collision” happened at about 4.05pm, and “one of the passengers was pronounced dead at the scene”.

Four other people in the car – another man and three women – were treated for minor injuries in hospital.

A spokeswoman for Surrey Fire and Rescue Service said she believed it was the “result of a road traffic collision”.

Firefighters “extracted the man who sadly died”, she said, adding: “They did use cutting equipment for that. They also assisted with first aid with other passengers.

“There’s no other reports of any other vehicles involved.”

The road is expected to remain closed overnight and into Monday morning.
