Police have launched a murder investigation following a second alleged killing at London care homes in the past 24 hours.

A 34-year-old man was declared dead at the scene after emergency services were called to an address in Newham, east London, at 3:45am.

Metropolitan Police say a 21-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

In the other incident, a 60-year-old man was allegedly killed at a different adult care home in Hayes just before midnight yesterday, My London reports.

Regarding the Newham tragedy, a spokesman for Met Police said: “An investigation has been launched by detectives from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command who are in the process of informing the man’s next of kin.

“A post-mortem examination is due to be held at East Ham Mortuary on Wednesday, January 4.”

The force has not said the two investigations are linked.

A 44-year-old man, who was also a resident in the Hayes care home, was arrested on suspicion of murder.

Both investigations continue in the capital.
