Man charged with attempted murder after shooting at McDonald’s drive-through

A man has been charged with attempted murder after a  21-year-old victim was shot while queuing at a McDonald’s drive-thru in Merseyside.

The victim was targeted as he sat in the front passenger seat of a black Ford Tourneo at the fast-food restaurant in Bromborough at around 5.30pm on Thursday.

He was treated in hospital for a leg injury and his condition was described as stable.

David Pugh, 32, from Huyton, Merseyside, is accused of attempted murder and possession of firearm. 

Inquiries are continuing into the incident which happened at The Croft Retail & Leisure Park in Welton Road.

Detective Inspector Sabi Kaur, from the firearms investigations team said: ‘I am extremely grateful to the members of the public who have assisted in this case, those who have provided dashcam footage, statements and other information have been instrumental in this investigation.

‘Gun crime will not be tolerated on the streets of Merseyside and we will do everything in our power to remove dangerous weapons from our streets.’

Pugh will appear in custody at court on Monday.
