Man arrested after elderly couple found dead in Kensington flat

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after an elderly couple were found dead in their west London flat.

The pair, believed to be a man and a woman in their late 60s, were discovered at their home at Adair Tower in north Kensington at around 6.30am on Thursday.

Scotland Yard said a man known to both victims had initially contacted Surrey Police, alerting officers to the address.

The suspect, who is in his late 40s, was arrested by Surrey Police and will be brought to London for questioning.

Formal identification and post-mortem examinations have not yet been carried out but officers are trying to trace relatives of the couple.

Police inquiries are ongoing and a crime scene is in place at Adair Tower.

Detective Chief Inspector Rob Pack, who is leading the investigation, said: “This is an awful case where an elderly couple have been found dead in their home.

“My team are busy carrying out a number of inquiries including local CCTV footage review, house-to-house inquiries and forensic work but need to hear from those who have information.

“Do you live nearby? Did you see or hear anything suspicious?

“We need you to get in touch and speak with investigators as soon as you can.”
