Asa Davison, 35, is said to have kicked and punched Isabelle Irish in the stomach and dragged her along the road. She was found cowering in a back garden of a house by the homeowner who called the police. Isabelle was taken to hospital and a scan detected no fetal heartbeat. She gave birth to a dead baby, who had been healthy at its 20-week scan.
Davison, from Gillingham, Dorset, started dating Isabelle when she was already pregnant. He attacked her in May 2020 when the unborn baby was 20 weeks old.
Sarah Jones, prosecuting, said he felt bitter about the prospect of raising another man’s child.
Davison denies child destruction under the Infant Life Preservation Act (1929). The trial continues at Bournemouth Crown Court.
