Man (60s) killed, another man injured after car struck ditch
A man has died following a road crash this afternoon in Co Clare.
The man, aged in his sixties, was driving the car which crashed on the R352 near the village of Mountshannon.
It is understood the car left the road and struck a ditch.
A passenger in the car, another man aged in his sixties, was rushed to University Hospital Limerick by ambulance. His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.
Gardaí were called to the scene at approximately 2.45pm and the victim was pronounced dead.
His body has since been removed to the mortuary at University Hospital Limerick for a post-mortem examination.
Gardaí in Killaloe are now appealing for witnesses to the collision.
Garda forensic collision investigators have been requested to examine the scene. The local Coroner has been notified and local traffic diversions are in place around the crash site.
