Man, 21, pleads guilty to murdering mum and dumping her body in bushes

A 21-year-old man has pleaded guilty to murdering mother-of-two Maria Rawlings, whose body was found in undergrowth in east London in May.

Valentin Lazar was arrested a week after a dog walker saw Maria’s body in bushes off a road in the Little Heath area of Romford.

She was found to have died from injuries consistent with being strangled, and also suffered head injuries.

Lazar is believed to have attacked her after she left the King George Hospital in Ilford and walked towards the A12 on the evening of May 3.

A subsequent inquest heard Maria, who was from Chelmsford was found naked.
