Makeup expert shares top tips to look like Princess Kate

Princess Kate looks fantastic whenever she is captured on camera and while a lot of this is down to good genetics, her makeup is pretty flawless too.

Hannah, MUA at Spectrum Collections, spoke exclusively to Express.co.uk about how Kate fans can recreate the royal’s evening makeup look.

This is a fail-safe routine that even makeup novices can master. Achieve the Princess’ look in just six steps.

For the ultimate Kate “night look”, it’s important to invest in a good base.

Hannah said: “Skin is kept polished and natural with a soft-matte finish. Apply a veil of foundation and spot conceal blemishes. Finish with translucent powder for a velvet, photo-ready finish.”

Next, add a touch of colour: “Rosey-pink blush is added to the apple of the cheeks for a youthful, pop of colour.”

Pink seems to be the theme when it comes to Kate’s look – “with a similar glossy colour on the lips to keep the look cohesive”.

Next it’s onto the eyes. While Kate typically goes for subtle, neutral lip colours for evening engagements, her eyes are typically big, bold, dramatic and often sparkly.

According to Hannah, it’s totally possible to achieve her look at home with just a few products.

She advised: “The eyes and brows are the main focus. Keep the front of the brow soft and fluffy while defining the base and tail to keep them looking full but natural.

“You can achieve this with a pencil to define any sparse areas and finish with a coloured brow gel to add texture and fullness.

“Buff a silver, grey pencil across the lid and the lower lash line for a soft sparkle. Add drama and definition to the outer corner of the eyes with a black pencil and lightly blend any harsh edges for a smokey lash line.”

“With a blending brush, finish with a cool-toned brown eyeshadow in the crease to soften the edges.

“Complete the look with mascara and individual lashes to keep lashes looking defined and full. Focus the individuals on the outer corner for a lifted eye look.”
