Machete gang cut off woman’s fingers and mutilate boyfriend
A mother has lost her fingers and her lover had to have his leg amputated after being brutally attacked by gang-wielding machetes. The assault is thought to have been launched over a sizable unpaid debt, which the mum-of-two claims she was not aware of.
The 28-year-old mum from Lanarkshire spoke with the Daily Record about her terrifying ordeal, highlighting the lasting effects it had on her life. The thugs behind the brutal attack are said to be from Liverpool and travelled to Scotland.
The extent of her partner’s wounds forced doctors to make the tough choice to amputate his right leg.
The woman had her left-hand cut while attempting to reach for a phone to call the police, losing two of her fingers as a result.
She said: “It’s a horrendous thing that happened to me and it’s difficult to talk about. I’m just trying to move forward with my life and recover from all of this. It has been a traumatic experience.
“I’m trying to focus on me and the kids at the moment. My partner and I have now gone our separate ways.
“I’m not in touch with him anymore. I can’t tell you why we were attacked.
“I don’t know the ins and outs of the story as he hasn’t been honest with me about what happened.”
The incident happened in the early hours of May 19, and the pair were quickly taken to Monklands Hospital in Airdrie by emergency personnel.

The amputations were then carried out on both victims by surgeons.
The complete circumstances of the event were only made public last week after pictures of the injured couple were posted on social media, despite the police first making a plea for witnesses.
One image shows the man victim lying in a hospital bed with his right leg amputated above the knee.
His hands and left leg are both severely wrapped from the top of the elbow down, and his left leg is supported by a brace.

According to Liverpool Echo, his fingers were also badly damaged in the attack. An image of the woman shows her left arm bandaged from below the elbow covering the hand where the fingers were amputated.
A family member of the woman said: “Even the police have said it was the worst they had ever seen. She was lucky she did not lose more than her two fingers.”
Sources told the Daily Record that the male victim, 28, was targeted over a massive debt owed to criminals and had just recently been released from prison.
His partner has since moved out of her home and hopes to now find somewhere else for her and her two young children to live.
