M62 shut for hours after £270,000 Lamborghini crashes and bursts into flames

A Lamborghini Aventador was turned into a fireball after a serious crash on the M62 which saw two people rushed to hospital.

Footage widely shared on social media shows the burning remains of the purple supercar after its collision with a Mazda CX-5 near Brighouse, near Bradford.

Traffic heading towards Manchester ground to a halt after yesterday afternoon’s crash forced the motorway to close.

Drivers who were on their way to watch Manchester United play Liverpool at Old Trafford, were stuck for up to four hours and ended up missing the match.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: ‘At 5.11pm on Monday, police received a report of a vehicle which was in collision with the central reservation on the M62 Westbound carriageway, close to Junction 25.

‘Emergency services attended and established the collision involved two cars – a Lamborghini Aventador and a Mazda CX-5.

‘Two people from the Lamborghini have been taken to hospital for further treatment.

‘No other injuries were reported and enquiries are ongoing.’

That part the M62 stayed closed into this morning, with National Highways announcing that emergency resurfacing works were finally completed at 5am.
