Two lanes were closed off between Junction 1 of the M60 for Stockport Pyramid and Junction 2 for Stockport Road.

The traffic was stopped on the clockwise carriageway of the motorway.

Feeds from motorway cameras showed a build-up of traffic around the incident.

Further details about the incident are yet to be confirmed by authorities.

All lanes were originally closed after the incident, before one lane was reopened to relieve the congestion quickly tailing back from the scene of the collision.

Congestion reached Junction 24 for Denton Island.
