One lane of the sliproad had been shut off due to a broken-down vehicle.
Traffic officers attended the scene, and recovery vehicles assisted with the broken-down vehicle.
This follows the re-opening of the northbound exit sliproad for the M62 at Junction 21 for the Croft Interchange on Sunday.
Officers were present at the scene alongside paramedics from the North West Ambulance Service after a collision stopped motorists exiting the M6 onto the M62.
Traffic congestion built up until the sliproad was re-opened later that day.
