Police and Highways England are both said to be on the scene following the crash, which took place between junction 24 and junction 25, at the A58 Liverpool Road.

The northbound entry slip road and two lanes have been closed .

North West Motorway Police said: “We are on scene at an RTC on the M6, J24 and J25 northbound.

“Lane one and two closed, lane three running past the scene.”
