London Underground panic: Knifeman ‘on loose in station’ – heavily armed police on scene

Hylands Police have reported emergency teams have been deployed at Upminster train station this evening. 

They have stated a male is currently being searched for after escaping the police. 

One person had tweeted: “A work colleague has reported that several police vans including police officers in riot gear are at Upminster station because there is a person with a knife running around the station.”

They advised the public to stay away from the area while a search is conducted. 

The police have not revealed if anyone was hurt during the incident this evening. 

A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police told Express.co.uk: “Police were called at 6.21pm on Wednesday, 9 December to Upminster Station following reports of a man believed to be in possession of a knife.

“Officers from the Met, BTP and the National Police Air Service remain in attendance.

“There are no reported injuries.

“No arrests and enquiries continue.”
