Activits from the UK Student Climate Network (UKSCN) “are currently holding a vigil inside the London Science Museum”, according to Huck Magazine. It said they were protesting “against the Shell sponsorship of an exhibition.

They claimed that two police officers were in attendance.

Shortly before news of the protest emerged the UKSCN tweeted a picture outside the museum.

It wrote: “RIGHT NOW a vigil is also taking place outside the @sciencemuseum!

“Join us and show solidarity to all the people who have been harmed by shell and to the comrades protesting inside!”

It later tweeted: “BREAKING: the @sciencemuseum is occupied!!

“We intend to stay overnight in protest against the Museum’s sponsorship deals with fossil fuel companies.

“A vigil is being held outside to commemorate the victims of these sponsors: Shell, BP, Equinor and Adani. Follow for updates.”

All four firms are involved in the fossil fuel industry – something that has sparked outrage among some climate change protestors.
